Hand Quilting

Long term ...and I mean long...These vintage Dresden Plate pieces were given to me 28 years ago in Oklahoma.

Vintage Dresden Plate

I appliqued them on to background squares and didn't get back to them until I started quilting seven years ago.  The green material is a faux border, until I finish quilting the center.

9 Plates
 Marked for quilting

The border is a surprise, see idea below.  It is fun!

Hand piecing six pointed stars. Started on trip to Portugal.  Fabric is South African indigo.

Diamonds are pieced together in pairs.
Pairs are joined to make a star

These are the finished stars.  Still working on rest of design.
Stay tuned.

Works in Progress

Churn Dash blocks on my design wall, deciding on a border.

Border added and quilt is pinned.  Ready to quilt.....soon.  November deadline.

Bird Quilt, waiting to be quilted.  Some fun Kaffe Fassett and Amy Butler fabric..thanks Meredith!

Santa Cruz County Fair

The Santa Cruz County Fair was in September.  I entered my hand pieced and hand quilted postage stamp quilt.  I was inspired from an antique quilt I saw years ago in a magazine about a quaint B&B.  Which won first place.

This next quilt I entered in the machine piece and quilted section.  It won honorable mention.

Machine Pieced - Machine Quilted

This is my art quilt.  I worked on this piece in a class that I took.  I entered it last minute thinking "why not?".  I was shocked to find that it won first place AND best of section!
